I have been thinking hard about this for a few weeks now and have finally come to a decision. As of today Doctor Who Mad Online is officially closed! Due to other commitments and important things coming up in my life, I feel as if running a website is becoming more of a chore than something I enjoy doing. I have had a great two years and would like to thank all of you for your constant support since May 2008. As I write the site is well on it's way to 80,000 hits, which I am very proud of. If you are in need of a new Doctor Who news site then I highly recommend you visit The Oncoming Storm, The Gallifrey Vortex, Tardis Base, The Doctor Who Site and Whoviannet. Each site is updated daily with high quality posts and are run by very friendly people. Don't go thinking I have given up on Doctor Who though, because I haven't. I just feel that now is a good time to finish. So once again thank you to you all for your support and from myself and Doctor Who Mad Online, goodbye. This is our journey's end...

Doctor Who DVD Files Issue 29 Released

Today, Wednesday the tenth of February, has seen the official release of issue twenty nine of Doctor Who DVD Files. The issue was released today around most of the United Kingdom and Ireland for the price of £6.99. If you subscribe to the magazine then the issue should have reached you by post today, if it hasn't already. The magazine is the first to look at a classic Doctor Who story and comes with a free DVD, which contains all parts of Remembrance of the Daleks. The story is taken from the classic series of Doctor Who and features The Seventh Doctor, as played by Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred as Ace.

In the issue you will be able to read all about Remembrance of the Daleks and the issue also includes: Max Capricorn, Professor Yana, an Interview with script editor Andrew Cartmel, A New Era, Spearhead!, Intrusion Counter-Measures Group, Abzorbaloff and Imperial Dalek Shuttle.

Matt Smith - The Clumsiest Doctor Yet?

The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine was released around the United Kingdom and Ireland last Thursday and contains the second part of an exclusive interview with Doctor Who's new head writer Steven Moffat. In his interview with the magazine Steven claims that Matt Smith is clumsy on set and that the actor, who will take over our Saturday nights in the Spring, has a habit of breaking things on set. "He knocks over coffees, falls over, breaks props!" In the interview Steven describes Matt as "a drunk giraffe" and claims that Karen Gillan, who will play companion Amy Pond, is no better than her other half, Matt.

Speaking to Doctor Who Magazine, Moffat said, "He knocks over coffees, falls over, breaks props! When he was first handed the brand new sonic screwdriver on the first day of filming, I turned to Piers [Piers Wenger, executive producer], and I said, 'I'm going to start a book on how long it takes him to break it.' And, as I was saying it, the prop man was walking past me with the sonic screwdriver in two bits! I thought, 'He's done it already!'. Straight away, he'd broken it!"

He went on to tell Doctor Who Magazine: "I described him recently as 'walking like a drunk giraffe,' which has caused him some concern. But he does! Actually, that's true of Karen [Gillan, companion Amy Pond] as well. It's hilarious when the two of them have to do shaky floor acting!"

Neil Gaiman Confirmed As Series Six Writer

It has been suggested for years that Neil Gaiman is waiting to write an episode of Doctor Who in the near future. Speaking at an SFX convention yesterday Neil confirmed that he has now been asked to write an episode of the show, stating that he will write an episode for the sixth series of the show in 2011. This is great news for Doctor Who fans as Neil is a hugely successful science fiction and fantasy writer. He has previously written a novel titled Coraline which many of you will have seen, as it was recently made into a film. His other works include Stardust (also adapted into a film) and a comic book series titled The Sandman.

"As anyone who’s read my blog knows, I’m a big fan of a certain long-running British SF TV series. One that I started watching - from behind the sofa - when I was three,” he told SFX. "And while I know it’s cruel to make you wait for things, in about fourteen months from now, which is to say, not in the upcoming season but early in the one after that, it’s quite possible that I might have written an episode. And if I had, it would originally have been called The House of Nothing. But it definitely isn’t called that any more."

Neil Gaiman will make his official Doctor Who writing debut on our screens next year. Not only does this post confirm that he will write for Doctor Who, but it also confirms that a sixth series of the show is already in planning. Will The Eleventh Doctor still be with us next year, or will he do a Ninth Doctor? Will Amy be in series six? Only time will tell.

It was confirmed a while back that the writers for series five are; Steven Moffat (six episodes), Mark Gatiss (one episode), Toby Whithouse (one episode), Simon Nye (one episode), Chris Chibnall (two episodes), Richard Curtis (one episode) and Gareth Roberts (one episode). Doctor Who: Dead Air Audiobook Due For Release

BBC Audio have recently confirmed that they plan to release a new Tenth Doctor audiobook, titled Dead Air, early next month. The audiobook is written by James Goss and is read by The Tenth Doctor himself, David Tennant. Dead Air follows on from previous new series audios; Pest Control, The Forever Trap, The Nemonite Invasion, The Rising Night, The Day of the Troll and The Last Voyage. Each of these six audiobooks have already been released and are currently available in stores around the United Kingdom and Ireland. Dead Air will feature The Doctor traveling alone, with no official companions joining him for the story.

The following synopsis is for Dead Air by James Goss:

‘Hello, I’m the Doctor. And, if you can hear this, then one of us is going to die.’

At the bottom of the sea, in the wreck of a floating radio station, a lost recording has been discovered. After careful restoration, it is played for the first time – to reveal something incredible. It is the voice of the Doctor, broadcasting from Radio Bravo in 1966. John Barrowman on Tonight's Friday Night with Jonathan Ross

John Barrowman will be a guest on this evening's episode of Friday Night with Jonathan Ross. John Barrowman is a hugely popular television actor, stage actor and singer. He is however best known for his role as Jack Harkness in Doctor Who and it's hugely popular spin-off series Torchwood. Two weeks ago Billie Piper (Rose Tyler in Doctor Who) appeared on the show, with Catherine Tate (Donna Noble in Doctor Who) on the show the week before. Now it would seem that it is John's turn! John has appeared on the show before, but this will probably be his last time on the show as Jonathan Ross will leave the BBC soon.

It is suspected that John will discuss his upcoming album and possibly his time in the recent production of La Cage Aux Folles. He may also talk about his time on Doctor Who and his role in Torchwood. Fans are also hoping that he will talk about the recent rumours that Torchwood is moving to America (here).

You will be able to watch tonight's edition of Friday Night with Jonathan Ross on BBC One from 10:35pm. The episode will also be shown in high definition on the BBC HD channel. John's interview could be shown at any time during the sixty minute show, with other guests including Lorraine Kelly and Shahrukh Khan.

Today, Thursday the fourth of February, has seen the official release of issue four hundred and eighteen of Doctor Who Magazine. The issue was released today around most of the United Kingdom and Ireland for the price of £4.20. The magazine this is the second to follow the new format, following on from last month's new look issue. Series Five Episode 1-3 Titles Confirmed

The four hundred and eighteenth issue of Doctor Who Magazine this month confirms the official titles for the first three episodes from the upcoming fifth series of Doctor Who. The magazine will be released around the United Kingdom and Ireland tomorrow for £5.20 and will take an in-depth look at the Daleks, with everything you need to know about them. For those of you who do not want to know the names of the episodes or wish to avoid spoilers I suggest that you do not read any further as some of the following information contains spoilers. For those of you however who do want to know the three titles continue reading.

Episode 1: The Eleventh Hour (written by Steven Moffat) - The episode will most likely see the TARDIS crash land on Earth as the new Doctor is introduced properly. The episode will also introduce his new companion Amy Pond.

Episode 2: The Beast Below (written by Steven Moffat) - Not much is known as of yet about this episode but it will most likely be Amy's first trip in the TARDIS. There are also talks of monks in this episode and a lot of time spent in the TARDIS.

Episode 3: Victory of the Daleks (written by Mark Gatiss) - Another Dalek title, another Dalek situation. This time they find themselves in World War II.

The fifth series of Doctor Who kicks off this Spring and will not only see The Doctor and Amy face the Daleks, but also vampires, Weeping Angels and there are even talks of Cyberman. Official Ratings for The End of Time Part Two

BARB have recently released the official ratings for Doctor Who: The End of Time Part Two. The End of Time Part Two was shown on BBC One and BBC HD on New Years Day and saw The Doctor fight off the Time Lords and The Master, then regenerate into new Doctor Matt Smith. In the episode The Tenth Doctor was played by David Tennant, Wilfred Mott by Bernard Cribbins and The Master by John Simm. An incredible amount of people tuned in to watch David Tennant's last episode as The Doctor, but exactly how many of you kicked off your year with David Tennant's departing episode and the arrival of Matt Smith.

Unofficial overnight ratings for the episode suggested that the episode was watched by 10.4 million viewers with an additional 389,000 watching it on BBC HD. New official ratings now suggest that the episode was in fact watched by 11.79 million people, with a further 0.48 million watching on BBC HD. The End of Time Part One was watched by more people with 12.04 million watching on BBC One and 470,000 watching on BBC HD. This makes The End of Time Part Two the second most watched programme of New Years Day. When we add the HD viewers to this Doctor Who was in fact the most watched programme of the day.

Doctor Who Dreamland DVD Released

Today has seen the official DVD release of the recent Doctor Who animation series, Dreamland, on DVD around the United Kingdom and Ireland. Dreamland features the voices of David Tennant as The Tenth Doctor, Georgia Moffett as Cassie Rice and Tim Howar as Jimmy Stalkingwolf. The DVD is made up of two separate discs - one of the which contains the full forty five minute animation whilst the other contains the three episodes of Doctor Who: Greatest Moments, which were shown in August, into September. The three episodes of Doctor Who: Greatest Moments focus on The Doctor, his companions and his enemies.

Dreamland sees the TARDIS touch down in the desert in the USA. Stumbling across a mysterious alien artifact in a local diner, the Doctor is led to Area 51, also known as Dreamland, the US' most secret base. He then finds himself on a momentous mission to rescue Rivesh Mantilax from the threat of the ruthless Viperox and the clutches of the American military. Created in eye-catching high-definition 3-D animation, the series sees the Doctor, played by David Tennant, hook up with two new companions - Cassie (Georgia Moffett) and Jimmy (Tim Howar) - and pits him against a new alien race, the monstrous Viperox, led by Lord Azlok (David Warner).

Dreamland is now available across the United Kingdom and Ireland for £12.99. The DVD contains the full version of Dreamland and the three Greatest Moments episodes. It is available at HMV, leading supermarkets and any other DVD stockists. Most shops will sell the DVD for a slightly cheaper price that the recommended £12.99. Details for First Set of Eleventh Doctor Books Released

BBC Books have recently confirmed that they plan to release three new books this April based on the adventures of the new Eleventh Doctor and his new companion Amy Pond. And now we have the synopsis for the books, which will each feature The Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond. The three upcoming books are titled Apollo 23, Night of the Humans and The Forgotten Army, written by Justin Richards, David Llewellyn and Brian Minchin. We are now also aware that BBC Books intend to release a second set of Eleventh Doctor books in July. The second set of books are Adorable Illusion, Nuclear Time and The King’s Dragon.

The following synopsis is for Apollo 23 by Justin Richards:

‘Houston – we have a problem.’

An astronaut in full spacesuit appears out of thin air in a busy shopping centre. Maybe it’s a publicity stunt. A photo shows an immaculately-dressed woman in her best shoes lying dead at the edge of a crater on the dark side of the moon – beside her beloved dog ‘Poochie’. Maybe it’s a hoax. But as the Doctor and Amy find out, these are just minor events in a sinister plan to take over every human being on earth. The plot centres on a secret military base on the moon – that’s where Amy and the TARDIS are. Billie Piper Hints At Doctor Who Movie

Billie Piper took part in an interview conducted by Sara Cox on Radio 1 last Thursday. During the interview she spoke about new Doctor Matt Smith and the new series of Secret Diary of a Call Girl, in which Billie plays the part of prostitute Belle De Jour. She also spoke about her time on Doctor Who. When talking about Doctor Who Billie discussed the possibility of a Doctor Who movie, a topic which crops up from time to time amongst Doctor Who fans. Thanks to this interview the idea now seems more likely than ever before, with David Tennant willing to return to the show for a movie if the possibility came forward.

When asked about the possibility of a Doctor Who film going ahead, Billie said: "Well, I've heard that they're doing it, and that they want David to do it." But she then went on to say that she thinks David's "slightly anxious that there'll be big American producers on board and that they'll try and hijack the whole thing and cast someone like Johnny Depp."

During the interview Billie also begins to talk about a musical version of Doctor Who but simply says "no", but that "it would be a good one". The thought of a Doctor Who muscial has been brought up before, but there are no plans to go ahead with a musical version of the programme. The idea of a Doctor Who movie has been on the cards for a while now but will it actually go ahead in the near future? Is there even an idea to make a Doctor Who movie? Are we being strung along? Billie Piper Interviewed by Digital Spy

Billie Piper, best known for her portrayal of Rose Tyler in Doctor Who and Belle in Secret Diary of a Call Girl, has recently taken part in an exclusive interview with Digital Spy. In the interview Billie talks about Doctor Who and Secret Diary of a Call Girl and discussed her short appearance in The End of Time Part Two. She also spoke about the future of Rose and has said that it is unlikely that she will return to the series any time soon. Billie Piper played the part of Rose throughout series one and two of Doctor Who, for the last three episodes of series four and in The End of Time Part Two. Is this the last we've seen of Rose?

The segment from the Digital Spy interview follows:

You returned in scenes for Tennant's final Doctor Who outing. How was that?
"It was weird because I didn't have a full script and I had to do it in three hours. It was after filming Secret Diary in the day and it was too short! I didn't know anything about the story. I wish I'd been there for the whole episode - but that would have been a bit tedious!"

Is there room for Rose to return at a later date?
"I think it's done now, isn't it? I think that ship has sailed. That old, wooden ship! I really loved doing it, but Doctor Who has moved on - it's different people, different crew, different production team and I can't keep going back. It's ridiculous! It's time to move on..."

So, it would seem that Billie has doubts about returning to Doctor Who in the near future, but agrees that it's time to move on. A while ago Steven Moffat said that he would not bring Rose back for seires five as he thinks she is "needy". But does that mean that he will never bring Rose back? Today, Wednesday the twenty seventh of January, has seen the official release of issue twenty eight of Doctor Who DVD Files. The issue was released today around most of the United Kingdom and Ireland for the price of £6.99. If you subscribe to the magazine then the issue should have reached you by post today, if not already. The magazine comes with a free DVD, which contains two brand new episodes, Journey's End and The Next Doctor. Both of these episodes feature David Tennant as The Tenth Doctor, with Journey's End starring Catherine Tate as the "plucky young woman" who helps him out - Donna Noble.

The issue focuses on Journey's End and The Next Doctor with an episode guide for each. The issue also looks at Jackson Lake, The Master, The TARDIS' Cameleon Circuit, Sarah Jane Smith and goes behind the scenes with Nicholas Briggs - the voice of the Daleks and the Cybermen.

Doctor Who DVD Files to Release Classic Episodes

It has recently been confirmed that Doctor Who DVD Files will continue its DVD series with a selection of episodes from the classic series. The magazine series was originally meant to give away free episodes from Rose to The Next Doctor, but now the magazine has permission to release several classic episodes of Doctor Who. From the twenty ninth issue of DVD Files, the magazine will come with a free classic story with the final classic story being released with issue forty. The future of the magazine after issue forty is currently unknown. Will it finish, give away more classic stories or give away the 2009 and 2010 specials?

So, issue twenty nine will come with Remembrance of the Daleks, whilst issue thirty comes with The Three Doctors. Issue thirty one will come with Genesis of the Daleks with issue thirty two giving away a free copy of Earthshock. Issue thirty three will come with Pyramids of Mars. Issue thirty four comes with Ressurection of the Daleks and issue thirty five comes with Spearhead from Space. Issue thirty six will come with The Caves of Androzani. Issue thirty seven will come with City of Death, whilst issue thirty eight comes with Revelation of the Daleks. Issue thirty nine comes with The Brain of Morbius. Finally, issue forty comes with The Curse of Fenric.

Issue twenty eight of Doctor Who DVD Files is available tomorrow for £6.99 in stores across the United Kingdom and Ireland. Doctor Who Game in Development?

According to a recent report, the BBC are currently developing a range of brand new games based around some of their shows, and Doctor Who could be one of them. The report claims that the BBC are working on developing new games for various platforms, with the DS, Wii, iPhone and Facebook being suggested as platforms for the games. It has been stated that the BBC have appointed former EA and Yahoo executive Robert Nashak to be in charge of the BBC multimedia experience. The BBC hope to turn Doctor Who, Top Gear, In The Night Garden and many, many more BBC programmes into games for all types of audiences.

"We’ve been reactive to the market in the last few years," the head of BBC Worldwide’s multimedia development, Dave Anderson, said. "There were a few opportunistic licensing deals, but we were largely aggregating and holding on to our properties to wait and see how the market developed."

It has been confirmed that more information regarding the BBC's upcoming multimedia plans will be revealed soon. A Doctor Who related Top Trumps game has been released before on the PlayStation 2, DS and the Wii. It is still available across the United Kingdom and Ireland, but isn't widely distributed.

Classic Doctor Who: Wave Two Figures Released

Today has seen the official release of the second wave of Classic Doctor Who figures around the United Kingdom and Ireland. The new wave has been released by Character Options and are part of the 5" Doctor Who figure range. The six new figures follow on from the first wave of Classic Doctor Who figures which consisted of The Fourth Doctor, The Fifth Doctor, The Sixth Doctor, a Sea Devil, Voc Robot D84, Voc Robot SV7, a Zygon and a 2-pack with Magnus Greel and Mr Sin. Each of the first wave figures are still available to purchase in stores across the United Kingdom and Ireland, each sold with a price of around £8.99.

The new second wave of Classic Doctor Who action figures consists of the Morbius Creature from The Brain of Morbius, a Cyberman from Earthshock, an Ice Warrior from The Ice Warriors, The Seeds of Death, The Curse of Peladon and The Monster of Peladon, The Master from The Keeper of Traken, a Voc Robot from The Robots of Death and a Mummy from Pyramids of Mars.

The second wave of Classic Doctor Who figures are now available across the United Kingdom and Ireland at the price of £8.99. Character Options also confirmed recently that they will release four new figures from The End of Time on January thirty first, but it would seem that the two Doctors are already available. The Master and the President of Gallifrey are expected within the next few weeks.

Stephen Fry Would Be Honored To Write for Doctor Who

Actor, writer, comedian, television presenter and film director Stephen Fry has recently confirmed that he would jump at the chance of writing an episode of Doctor Who if the opportunity ever came about. Speaking at the National Television Awards on Wednesday Stephen Fry, who won the awards for Star Travel Documentary and the Special Recognition Award, would be honored to write an episode of Doctor Who for Matt Smith in the near future. Most of you will have seen him presenting QI or in his 2008 series, Stephen Fry in America. He is also the voice of the popular PlayStation 3 and PSP game Little Big Planet.

"I look forward so much to seeing Matt Smith and I’m sure he’s going to be wonderful," Stephen Fry said. Talking about the possibility of writing for the show in the future he said: "If I get time it’ll be a thrill, I can’t think of anything nicer." Stephen Fry was originally offered the chance to write for Doctor Who in 2006. He claims he "never really got round to it." He added: "But I’m very happy to have had the experience of thinking about it." So could we see Stephen Fry writing for series six? Only time will tell...

Today, Thursday the twenty first of January, has seen the official release of issue one hundred and fifty of Doctor Who Adventures. The issue was released today around most of the United Kingdom and Ireland for the price of £2.10. Doctor Who Success at National Television Awards

Doctor Who and David Tennant both stood proud last night at the National Television Awards after the show and the actor won awards. Doctor Who won the award for Best Drama, having won it for the past four years. Meanwhile David Tennant won the award for Best Drama Performance for his portrayal of The Tenth Doctor . David Tennant was seen earlier on in the awards ceremony when he awarded Stephen Fry with the award for Star Travel Documentary. The ceremony was hosted by Dermot O' Leary and in the audience were the likes of Michael McIntyre, David Tennant, Piers Morgan, Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell.

The award for Serial Drama Performance was won by Lacey Turner, whilst David Tennant obtained the award for Drama Performance. The award for Drama was won by Doctor Who, whilst the award for Serial Drama was achieved by Coronation Street for the first time since 2004. The Star Travel Documentary was won by Stephen Fry in America. Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway achieved the award for Most Popular Entertainment Programme with Ant and Dec winning the award for Most Popular Entertainment Presenter. The X Factor was crowned Most Popular Talent Show with Gavin & Stacey getting the award for Most Popular Comedy Programme. The award for Most Popular Factual Programme was won by Loose Women. Craig Gazey was awarded Most Popular Newcomer with Stephen Fry winning a second award, the Special Recognition Award.

Doctor Who might have won the award for Best Drama this year but will it manage to get the award again next year? With a new head writer, new Doctor, new companion and new era for Doctor Who there is always the chance that it could all go wrong. Is that likely? Of course not!

The Sun's Claim That Amy Pond Is A Kissogram

Doctor Who is being sexed up for it's fifth series, The Sun newspaper is currently suggesting. The Sun claims that TV Biz believes The Doctor's new assistant Amy Pond, who will be played by Karen Gillan, is a kissogram. From set reports it seemed that Amy Pond would be a police woman in the new series, but it is now believed that the cop uniform is just part of her saucy job. For those of you who don't know, Wikipedia says that kissograms are usually arranged as a fun surprise for a person on a special occasion (ie. at a stag night). A kissogram would wear fancy clothing, which would explain the uniform.

Karen will be seen in various short skirts when she makes her debut alongside new Doctor Matt Smith in the Spring and it's all to give the series more "edge".

A Doctor Who insider revealed: "Everyone thinks she is this prim and proper policewoman, however it's going to be revealed early on that she works as a kissogram."

"It's going to be a bit of a shock for the fans, but I think they're going to enjoy it."

"Amy Pond's a really strong character and Karen is great in the role."

"Moffat's an edgier writer and the show is going in an exciting new direction."

The fifth series of Doctor Who will begin this Spring and will star Matt Smith as The Eleventh Doctor and Karen Gillan as Amy Pond. It will be written by Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss, Toby Whithouse, Simon Nye, Chris Chibnall, Richard Curtis and Gareth Roberts. The Doctor will meet Karen Gillan in the first episode. Torchwood Set To Hit The States With An American Version of the Show

According to a website titled The Hollywood Reporter an American version of Torchwood is currently in development. Torchwood was originally created as a spin-off from Doctor Who and proved very successful in the states, with Children of Earth breaking all ratings records on the American channel Fox. If the American series gets the go ahead it will be written by Torchwood creator Russell T Davies, who recently departed from Doctor Who after five loyal years as the programme's head writer and showrunner. It is also believed that John Barrowman will play Jack Harkness in the American series, if Fox commission it.

The following text is taken from The Hollywood Reporter and reveals more about the American series:

Huge news for sci-fi fans: Fox is developing a stateside version of the U.K. hit series “Torchwood.”

The project is from BBC Worldwide Prods., with original series creator Russell Davies writing the script.

A more straight-faced spinoff of “Doctor Who,” “Torchwood” is about a covert group that investigates and fights alien activity. Two series aired domestically on BBC America as well as last year’s well reviewed stand-alone miniseries, “Children of Earth,” which broke all ratings records for the network. (If you're a fan of serious sci fi such as "Battlestar Galatica" and haven't seen "Children of Earth," rent it. You don't need to know anything about the series. And I know the previews for "Torchwood" can look silly. Trust me, it's terrific. Like "24" with aliens).

Unlike U.S. adaptations that have gone awry, “Torchwood” fans can take comfort that the original producing team is on board. In addition to Davies, exec producers include Davies’ producing partner Julie Gardner (former head of drama at BBC Wales for the show’s first season) and Jane Tranter (another BBC vet, now exec VP programming and production at BBC Worldwide Prods. in the U.S.).

Also, some of the current cast — most likely John Barrowman, who plays the immortal Capt. Jack Harkness — might star if Fox orders “Torchwood” to pilot.

As for the new show’s plot, the U.S. version will contain a global story line compared to the more localized sensibility of the first two BBC seasons.

Tranter might try to reboot “Doctor Who” for U.S. audiences while departing “Doctor Who” star David Tennant stars in NBC’s pilot “Rex Is Not Your Lawyer.” “Torchwood” (which is an anagram of “Doctor Who”) debuted in 2006 on BBC 3 and set ratings records, then was moved to BBC 1. Russell also reinvented “Doctor Who” in 2003 and was writer-creator of the series “Queer as Folk.”

Having read the above it would seem that the chances of an American Torchwood are likely with Russell T Davies, Julie Gardner and John Barrowman all likely to be involved with the series. If the series gets the go ahead it will be obviously broadcast in America first, but will most likely be available in Britain soon after. Please be aware that this is not official confirmation of an American version of Torchwood, but is confirmation that the idea is being discussed and will hopefully hit our screens in the near future.

Today, Monday the eighteenth of January, has seen the release of a new classic Doctor Who DVD set titled Peladon Tales. The set features two stories from Jon Pertwee's Third Doctor years. They are The Curse of Peladon and The Monster of Peladon, Peladon being the planet where the two episodes are set. Both episodes are written by Brian Hayles, best known for inventing the Celestial Toymaker in 1966. The episodes both feature Jon Pertwee as The Third Doctor alongside Katy Manning, playing the part of Joe Grant, in The Curse of Peladon and Elisbaeth Sladen, playing Sarah Jane Smith, in The Monster of Peladon.

Doctor Who The End of Time 5" Figures Set For Release

It has recently been confirmed that January thirty first will see Character Options release some brand new Doctor Who figures. The four new figures will be part of the 5" figure range. Two of the figures will be new designs whilst the other two are remakes of previous characters. Character Options have released Doctor Who figures since the show was brought back in 2005 and have been responsible for the more recent Time Squad figures. The four new figures are from The End of Time, which aired on Christmas Day last year. The new figures will be on sale at the end of the month. Read on for more details and an image.

All four of the figures are from The End of Time with the figures being designed around The Tenth Doctor (David Tennant), The Master (John Simm) and the latest Time Lord President (Timothy Dalton). And that's not all! On the same day the company will also release the first ever figure of The Eleventh Doctor in The Tenth Doctor's clothes, as he is just after his regeneration.

Official Ratings for Doctor Who The End of Time Part One

BARB (Broadcasters' Audience Research Board) have recently released the official ratings for Doctor Who The End of Time Part One. The End of Time Part One was shown on BBC One and BBC HD on Christmas Day and saw The Doctor on his final journey as his nemesis The Master returns. With both determined to cheat death, the battle went from wastelands in London to the Immortality Gate. But the Ood warn of an even greater danger, as a terrible shadow fell across the entire universe. An incredible amount of you people tuned in to watch part one of this fantastic story, but exactly how many tuned in for the end of time itself?

Unofficial overnight ratings for The End of Time Part One were released on Boxing Day and they suggested that the episode was watched by 10 million people on BBC One with an additional 340,000 choosing to watch it on BBC HD. But now it has been confirmed that the episode was in fact watched by an incredible 12.04 million people, with 470,000 of these watching on BBC HD. This is the third highest rating for the programme since it returned in 2005, being beaten only by Voyage of the Damned and The Next Doctor. The official ratings for The End of Time Part Two will be released soon.

Rose Tyler Week: Day Five - Greatest Scene #1

January eleventh to Sunday seventeenth is Rose Tyler week here at Doctor Who Mad Online. On Monday we had five of Rose Tyler's best quotes for you, whilst on Tuesday we had all the hints of her return during series four. Meanwhile on Wednesday we kicked off our three days of greatest scenes, with our third favourite Rose Tyler scene. Yesterday we revealed our second favourite scene, which was the scene in which Rose and The Doctor were separated. Continuing the greatest scenes, we have our number one favourite Rose Tyler scene from her time on the show. Remember, visit tomorrow for Rose Tyler Week: Day Six.

Rose Tyler traveled around time and space with The Ninth and The Tenth Doctors for two whole series, until she left during Doomsday. Then she returned as the walls of the universe began to collapse. She had returned to find the love of her life, The Doctor. And she found him! The scene which has been named Doctor Who Mad Online's all time favourite scene. I struggled to decided which scene deserves the number one spot, initially thinking that the Doomsday scene deserved it. But I then remembered a scene which just betters it. And that scene is the reunion scene when Rose Tyler finds The Doctor again during The Stolen Earth. The scene sees The Doctor and Rose running for each other, after not seeing each other for a long time, when The Doctor is exterminated by a Dalek. Rose holds him in her arms and says "I missed you!" The scene is fantastic as it really shows how good the two were together and how much they wanted one another back, but at the same time you realised that they had slowly grown apart. On Monday we had five of Rose Tyler's best quotes for you, whilst yesterday we had the various hints that she would return during series four. For the next three days we will be looking at three of Rose Tyler's greatest scenes. She of course had many iconic scenes during her time on the show, but which three have appealed most to Doctor Who fans. The issue was released today around most of the United Kingdom and Ireland for the price of £6.99. Rose Tyler Week: Day Two - Hints at Rose Tyler's Return

Rose Tyler week officially kicked off yesterday at Doctor Who Mad Online with five of our favourite Rose related quotes from Doctor Who. This week, from today until Sunday, is dedicated to the one and only Rose Tyler, who has captured the hearts of millions since 2005. Today we look at Rose Tyler's return. Throughout series four we were given some hints about her return, but did you spot them all? In case you didn't we'll be looking at the seven hints at Rose's return. Rose eventually returned to the show for the final three episodes of series four. These episodes were Turn Left, The Stolen Earth and Journey's End.

1st Hint:
We first realised that Rose would return to the show in Partners in Crime when Donna Noble asked a blonde-haired woman to tell her mother that she left her car keys in "that bin there". Unaware to Donna the women turned out to be Rose herself. As she walked off, she faded. We knew we would see her again!

2nd Hint:
When The Doctor and Donna are talking to Lucias and Evelina in The Fires of Pompeii Lucias tells The Doctor that "She is returning."

3rd Hint:
In Planet of the Ood, Ood Sigma tells The Doctor that his "song must end soon". Immediately after we hear Rose's Doomsday theme. It turns out that this referred the his regeneration in The End of Time, but did it have a second meaning?

4th Hint:
When Donna was in the TARDIS during The Sontaran Stratagem Rose's face appeared on the console screen calling for The Doctor.

5th Hint:
The same clip from The Sontaran Stratagem is also seen in Captain Jack's Monster Files.

6th Hint:
In Forest of the Dead there is a picture of a blonde girl and a wolf on Charlotte (the girl's) wall. This is most likely a reference to Rose Tyler and Bad Wolf.

7th Hint:
During Midnight, Rose appeared on a screen. She did not speak aloud but it was obvious that she was shouting "Doctor!".

And then she returned. Rose returned for episode eleven of series four, Turn Left, and joined The Doctor to face Davros in The Stolen Earth and Journey's End. Rose Tyler then made an appearance in The End of Time Part Two. But is this the last we will see of Rose?

Doctor Who Dreamland DVD Cover and Details Released

It has been recently been confirmed that the recent Doctor Who animation, Dreamland, will be released on DVD next month. The DVD will be made up of two discs - one of which will feature the full forty five minute animation. The second of the two discs will include the three, hour long episodes of Doctor Who: Greatest Moments. The three episodes focus on The Doctor, The Companions and The Enemies. As of yet we have only heard of the DVD release, so at this stage it is not known whether a Blu-ray version will be released. It was shown on the BBC HD channel, which would suggest a higher quality Blu-ray version.

Dreamland sees the iconic TARDIS touch down in the desert in the USA. Stumbling across a mysterious alien artifact in a local diner, the Doctor is led to Area 51, also known as Dreamland, the US' most secret base. He then finds himself on a momentous mission to rescue Rivesh Mantilax from the threat of the ruthless Viperox and the clutches of the American military. Created in eye-catching high-definition 3-D animation, the series sees the Doctor, played by David Tennant, hook up with two new companions - Cassie (Georgia Moffett) and Jimmy (Tim Howar) - and pits him against a new alien race, the monstrous Viperox, led by Lord Azlok (David Warner).

Dreamland will be released on DVD on the first of February in stores around the United Kingdom and Ireland. It has a recommended retail price of £12.99, but you should be able to find it cheaper.

Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars and The End of Time Box Set Released

Today, Monday the eleventh of January, has seen the official release of Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars and The End of Time as a DVD box set. If you have already bought The Next Doctor and Planet of the Dead then I recommend that you buy this set as it contains only the episodes which have not yet been released in any form. Please be aware that this release is only available as a DVD box set and for some unknown reason will not be available as a Blu-ray set. The box set contains two separate DVD cases, with three discs in total. This is the first time to date that two new series stories have been released together.

The set contain the episodes: The Waters of Mars, The End of Time Part One and The End of Time Part Two. The box set also includes three episodes of Doctor Who Confidential. These episodes are: Is There Life on Mars?, Lords and Master and Allons-y. The set contains no further special features.

Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars and The End of Time is now available to purchase in stores across the United Kingdom and Ireland. The set has a recomended retail price of £24.99 but is currently being sold in most stores for around £15. Doctor Who: The Complete Specials Box Set Released

Today, Monday the eleventh of January, has seen the official release of Doctor Who: The Complete Specials as both a DVD and Blu-ray box set. The set is the latest in a long line and features David Tennant's latest five episodes as The Doctor. This is the best way to buy these five episodes as none of them have been released as part of other box sets before. However, please be aware that Planet of the Dead and The Next Doctor are available as single disc DVDs, with Planet of the Dead also available as a Blu-ray. This set follows previous box set releases for series one, series two, series three and series four of Doctor Who.

The box set contains the episodes: The Next Doctor, Planet of the Dead, The Waters of Mars, The End of Time Part One and The End of Time Part Two. Each episode also has an accompanying episode of Doctor Who Confidential. The episodes of Confidential which are included as part of this DVD and Blu-ray box set are: Christmas 2008, Desert Storm, Is There Life on Mars?, Lords and Masters and Allons-y. Special features for the set include: commentaries with cast and crew, deleted scenes from the specials, David Tennant's Video Diaries, Christmas BBC idents, trailers, Comic-Con 2009 and Doctor Who at the Proms.

Steven Moffat Confirms Writers for Doctor Who's Fifth Series

Doctor Who's new showrunner and head writer Steven Moffat has recently confirmed the writers for the upcoming series of the show. He confirmed the writers for The Eleventh Doctor's first series in issue four hundred and seventeen of Doctor Who Magazine, which was released on Thursday. He confirmed the seven writers who will contribute to the series, which will star new Doctor Matt Smith and Karen Gillan as companion Amy Pond, in his first ever Production Notes at the front of the magazine. He has chosen a fantastic selection of writers, with Moffat himself contributing to almost half of the series.

Steven Moffat has confirmed that he has written six episodes for the series, which will consist of thirteen episodes in total. The remaining seven episodes will be penned by Mark Gatiss, Toby Whithouse, Simon Nye, Chris Chibnall, Richard Curtis and Gareth Roberts. Chris Chibnall has written two episodes, which is likely to be a two part story.

Steven Moffat has previously written The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances, The Girl in the Fireplace, Blink, Tim Crash, Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead and the final scene of The End of Time Part Two (although uncredited.) Mark Gatiss has previously written The Unquiet Dead and The Idiot's Lantern. Toby Whithouse has previously written School Reunion and Torchwood episode Greeks Bearing Gifts. Simon Nye has not written for Doctor Who before so is a newcomer. Chris Chibnall has previously only written 42 for Doctor Who but was head writer for Torchwood having penned several episodes. Richard Curtis is also a newcomer, whilst Gareth Roberts has written Attack of the Graske, The Shakespeare Code, The Unicorn and the Wasp and co-wrote Planet of the Dead with former showrunner Russell T Davies. Gareth Roberts is also The Sarah Jane Adventures head writer.

The fifth series of Doctor Who will kick off this Spring on BBC One and BBC HD with a new Doctor and a new companion as played by Matt Smith and Karen Gillan. New year, new month! We might nearly be half way through it but what does January have in store for Doctor Who Mad Online? To kick off this post I am going to tell you about the new 'read more' system on the site. As you can see underneath this paragraph there is the option to read more. When you come to the end of the paragraph you select the read more option and it will bring up the full post, which now features paragraphs. If a promotional picture, cover or trailer ties in with the post they will also be included at the bottom of the full post. To demonstrate select the read more option to continue reading this post.

As you can see you now have a page with the full post. This system also allows me to post any synopsis, lists or press releases which are relevant to the post and lets you focus on the posts which you want to read. Hopefully this news system will allow me to update more frequently and post about things other than just the show (ie.cast appearances or things which have happened in the past that you may have missed).

I have also decided to have some days/weeks devoted to certain characters or enemies from the series. For example from tomorrow, Monday, Rose Tyler week kicks off here at Doctor Who Mad Online. We will be looking at some of Rose's best and worst highlights from her time with The Doctor and will be posting something new every day this week until Friday. David Tennant and Doctor Who Both Nominated For An Award the Upcoming NTA Ceremony

The shortlist for the upcoming National Television Awards was released yesterday and we are delighted to announce that both David Tennant and Doctor Who are up for an award. David Tennant has been nominated for his role as The Tenth Doctor in Doctor Who and is up against David Jason, David Threlfall and Philip Glenister for the award of Best Drama Performance, which he deserves after his four brilliant years on the show. Meanwhile the show itself is up for the award of Best Drama series, trying to fight off competition from Shameless, The Bill and Casualty. You can make your vote heard by heading over to the official website here. Will you be voting for David Tennant and/or Doctor Who? The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on the twentieth of January. The ceremony will be hosted by X Factor's very own Dermot O'Leary and will broadcast from 7:30pm on ITV1. The event will take place live at the 02 arena. During last year's ceremony David Tennant announced that he would be leaving Doctor Who after accepting his award. Murray Gold Will Compose the Music for Series Five and Names Two Writers for Series Five

Murray Gold, composer of music on Doctor Who since 2005, has confirmed in an online interview that he will continue to produce music for the show's fifth series, which is due to hit our screen this Spring. Murray Gold is responsible for the music on Doctor Who and has released three soundtracks of his work for the programme. In the interview, which can be found here, he also revealed that Mark Gatiss and Gareth Roberts have each written an episode for the new series. Mark Gatiss previously wrote The Unquiet Dead from series one of Doctor Who and The Idiot's Lantern from series two. Meanwhile Gareth Roberts wrote The Shakespeare Code from series three, The Unicorn and the Wasp from series four and co-wrote Planet of the Dead with Russell T Davies. He has also been responsible for Attack of the Graske and various episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures, being the spin-off's head writer. Matt Smith will play the part of The Doctor throughout series five and will be joined by the lovely Karen Gillan as Amy Pond. The series is rumoured to begin in late March or early April and will air on BBC One and BBC HD. The series will see the return of the Daleks, the Weeping Angels and River Song, The Doctor's fiancee.

Over 10 Million People Tune In To Bid Farewell - The End of Time Part Two Unofficial Ratings

Overnight ratings reveal that David Tennant's final episode of Doctor Who, The End of Time Part Two, had an unofficial audience of 10.4 million viewers. This figure made Doctor Who the second most watched programme of the day, having had 35.5% of yesterday's TV share. This rose to 36% (10.85 million) in the last twenty five minutes as The Doctor revisited old friends and regenerated into new Doctor Matt Smith. Doctor Who was beaten only by the second part of Eastenders, which managed to achieve a figure of 11.86 million. 389,000 watched the broadcast of Doctor Who on the BBC HD channel. Meanwhile over on BBC Three, Doctor Who Confidential: Allons-y was watched by 1.1 million viewers. Please be aware that these ratings are unofficial and are likely to change when the official figures are released. It would seem that David Tennant left on a high with an incredible amount of people tuning in to see him tackle The Master and the Time Lords, with even more tuning in to watch him regenerate into new Doctor, Matt Smith. This has certainly been the most watched of the ten regenerations in Doctor Who history. I'll post the official BARB viewing figures for this episode as soon as they become available online.

The End Is Just The Beginning - BBC Site Releases New Trailer To Prepare Us For Series Five

To prepare us for Matt Smith's arrival, the official BBC Doctor Who website have released a fantastic new trailer to promote the upcoming fifth series, which is due to hit our screens this Spring. The preview features clips of Matt Smith as The Eleventh Doctor and Karen Gillan as his new companion Amy Pond. The trailer also features shots of the Weeping Angels and River Song, both of which have starred in Steven Moffat (new head writer) episodes before. The Daleks also appear in the trailer, along with vampires and other foes which The Doctor will have to face over the next year. Although I had my doubts about life after David Tennant I have changed my mind this evening. The upcoming episodes look great and it would seem that Moffat's writing skills will keep the show going. Matt Smith, having seen him for the first time this evening, is also a fantastic actor and it seems Karen Gillan is too. The trailer is truly epic and will leave you wanting to watch it again and again. The series will start in Spring and will most likely run for thirteen weeks straight, however this may not happen.

Doctor Who: The End of Time, Part Two and Doctor Who Confidential: Alons-y Both Air Today

After a truly epic episode of Doctor Who last Friday (Christmas Day) The End of Time will conclude tonight with the second part of this final story for The Tenth Doctor. The episode will be the last to star David Tennant in the lead role with the much anticipated regeneration taking place during tonight's episode. Last week's story saw The Master turned himself into everyone and saw the exciting return of the Time Lords. Tonight's episode will see The Doctor face the end of his life as The Master's plans hurtle out of control. Sacrifices must be made, and the deadly profit warns: "He will knock four times." The episode will be The Tenth Doctor's last, with the role being taken over by Matt Smith for a fifth series later this year. The End of Time, Part Two will broadcast this evening on BBC One from 6:40pm, running until 7:55pm. It will be followed by an hour long episode of Doctor Who Confidential from 7:55pm to 8:55pm. The behind-the-scenes show is titled Alons-y and it will air on BBC Three. Both Doctor Who and Doctor Who Confidential will also air, at the same times, on BBC HD for a higher quality experience. The episode, because it is Tennant's last, hopes to achieve a record breaking rating, as I should think it will do.

Today is the final day! The day in which The Tenth Doctor leaves the TARDIS has finally arrived - get the tissues at the ready! And to celebrate the year gone by the BBC HD channel will be showing The Doctor's adventures from the past year. The Tenth Doctor afternoon, with high quality picture and sound, will begin at 1:40pm today with The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith. The episode is taken from the third series of The Sarah Jane Adventures and stars Elisabeth Sladen in the lead role as Sarah Jane Smith. The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith will be followed by the first Doctor Who special of 2009, Planet of the Dead, at 2:35pm. Planet of the Dead stars Michelle Ryan as Lady Christina and shall be followed by it's accompanying episode of Doctor Who Confidential: Desert Storm. Then the channel will be showing The Waters of Mars, guest featuring Lindsay Duncan, at 4:35pm. The End of Time, Part One will then broadcast straight after at 5:40pm. This will then lead into the broadcast of The End of Time, Part Two at 6:40pm. The End of Time, Part Two will also air simultaneously on BBC One. The second part of The End of Time will see The Tenth Doctor's song come to an end and as Carmen warned - "He will knock four times!"

This week's issue of the magazine takes an in-depth look at The Poison Sky and The Doctor's Daughter, with these two episodes included on the free DVD. The issue also takes a look at the departure of companion Leela, who travelled with The Fourth Doctor for two years, and takes a look at U.N.I.T's valiant ship, which was home to The Master for his reigning year. The Official BBC Doctor Who Website Has Today Opened Its 2nd Advent(ure) Calendar Door

The official BBC Doctor Who website launched its 2009 Advent(ure) Calendar yesterday and today has seen the second of the twenty five doors open. Yesterday's door offered an exclusive game, whereas today's door offers three exclusive Doctor Who Christmas cards with the first being a design of The Doctor, the second the TARDIS and the third being a group of classic series Cybermen. Each of the three cards include a picture related to Christmas in some way, whether it be The Doctor, the TARDIS or the Cybermen in the snow, a page which reads Merry Christmas and a page which says that Doctor Who will return in The End of Time, Part One. The cards also stress that any of the three designs may not be resold or reproduced. Never-the-less you can print off and hand out the cards, with the chance to write on the black page provided. Today has seen the official launch of the official Doctor Who website's Advent(ure) Calendar, after fans demanded its return. The official Doctor Who Advent Calendar is back and will each day give away exclusive pictures, games, secrets and other content, preparing fans for The End of Time Part One, which is set to air in Britain on Christmas day. The calendar is available to everyone in the United Kingdom and Ireland and will run until the twenty fifth of December, or so we presume. Today's advent door contains an exclusive game called Doctor in the House. The official website says: 'Remember the moments in Tooth and Claw where Rose was trying to cajole Queen Victoria into saying 'We are not amused'? Or in The Shakespeare Code where the Doctor was cheekily slipping the Bard's own lines into conversations with him? Well, here's a similar game where you have to sneakily use as many quotations from the Doctor as possible. Use the guile of a Time Lord to win big points!' The final viewing figures for Mona Lisa's Revenge have recently been revealed by the Broadcasters Audience Research Board (BARB). The two part story is taken from the third series of The Sarah Jane Adventures and was written by Phil Ford. Both the episodes featured Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith with Thomas Knight, Daniel Anthony and Anjli Mohindra as Luke Smith, Clyde Langer and Rani Chandra. The story saw the team face the famous Mona Lisa who is in search of her brother. Part one of Mona Lisa's Revenge was first broadcast on the twelfth of November at 4:35pm on BBC One. This broadcast managed to achieve an official viewing figure of 1.12 million, meaning it was watched by this many people. Part two of Mona Lisa's Revenge was first broadcast on the thirteenth of November at 4:35pm on BBC One. This broadcast managed to achieve an official viewing figure of 0.92 million. These ratings are average and a similar to what the show usually achieves. The two episodes were also shown on BBC HD, but the official figures are not available. The official ratings for The Gift are still to be revealed and will be released soon. The Sarah Jane Adventures shall return next year for a fourth series in Autumn.

Today, Monday the twenty third of November 2009, is an important day in the Doctor Who calendar because on this day forty six years ago Doctor Who hit BBC1 for the first time. At 5:15pm on that day BBC1 launched Doctor Who, with the first episode 'An Unearthly Child', which starred William Hartnell as The First Doctor. Since then we have been treated to exactly forty six years of time and space. Over the past years we have had ten Doctors, forty one companions and two hundred and one official stories (which is seven hundred and fifty four separate episodes). To celebrate ten years the BBC commissioned a special story titled 'The Three Doctors', which saw the first three Doctors come together to fight Omega. Then to celebrate twenty years 'The Five Doctors' was shown, a story which saw the first five Doctors meet for the first time. It is suspected that something even more epic will take place when the programme reaches it's fiftieth anniversary. Children in Need Airs Tonight With An Exclusive Charity Preview of The End of Time Part One

Tonight will see the BBC air their thirtieth Children in Need telethon from 7:00pm. The telethon will be seven hours long and is hosted by Terry Wogan, who has hosted Children in Need for the last twenty nine years. He is joined by Tess Daly and Alesha Dixon. As well as contributions from the likes of Eastenders, Merlin and Strictly Come Dancing, the telethon will feature an exclusive preview of the upcoming Doctor Who special. Russell T Davies recently confirmed that the title would be six words long and it was revealed a few days ago that the title is The End of Time Part One (should have guessed that). The preview of the special will be made up of scene four and five from The End of Time Part One. It will air at some point between 8:00pm and 8:30pm. The full episode will be shown on Christmas day on BBC One. Part two of this story, obviously titled The End of Time Part Two, will then broadcast on New Year's day, or so we presume. Today has seen the official release of a brand new classic Doctor Who DVD box set. The set is of The Key to Time, which made up the whole sixteenth season of the programme. The Key to Time starred Tom Baker as The Fourth Doctor alongside Mary Tamm as the first Romana. The season is based around The Doctor and Romana searching the universe for the key to time to give to the White Guardian so that the Black Guardian does not get his hands on it. This is just like The Infinite Quest (animated series) which saw The Doctor and Martha search for datachips so that Balthazar could not lay his hands on The Infinite. The Key to Time DVD consists of the following stories, each in separate parts; The Ribos Operation, The Pirate Planet, The Stones of Blood, The Androids of Tara, The Power of Kroll and The Armageddon Factor. The DVD box set of The Key to Time has been released before now but was a limited edition release. The new set does not include any new special features, but instead includes all the features from the previous limited edition Key to Time box set. Earlier this evening fans were treated to the broadcast of The Waters of Mars on BBC One and BBC HD. For those of you who saw it you will have been aware that a brand new trailer for the upcoming Christmas special was shown at the end of the story. The trailer features brand new clips of The Doctor, Wilfred Mott, Donna Noble, Lucy Saxon (if Saxon is her real name), a new-look Ood and of course The Master himself. The trailer proves that the remaining two specials, which will see the death of The Tenth Doctor, are going to be epic and above all, as The Ninth Doctor would say, 'fantastic'. The trailer is about forty seconds in running time and can be watched on the official Doctor Who website here. It is not yet known what the title for the Christmas special will be, however Russell T Davies did recently confirm that the title would be six words long. Issue four hundred and fifteen of Doctor Who Magazine, which was released on Thursday, confirms that this year's Christmas special has a title made up of six words. Just a few days ago there were many ideas regarding the titles for the two December episodes. Some thought the Christmas special (part one of this epic two part story) would be called The End of Time Part I and that the New Years Eve/Day episode (part two of this two part story) would be titled The End of Time Part II. Even before this it was thought that the Christmas special would be called Nightmares Reign, but now we know that it can be none of these as the title contains six words (the longest title of the new series'). Please note that the New Year's Eve/Day episode is definitely titled The End of Time. But what is the six part story called? It is thought that it will be revealed in the special clip on Friday as part of BBC's Children in Need night. Whilst on the topic of Children in Need it has also been confirmed that the preview will be of the Christmas special, not The End of Time, and that it will be a preview of the fourth and fifth scenes. The official editor of Doctor Who Magazine, Tom Spilsbury, has today confirmed that issue four hundred and fifteen of the magazine, which was released yesterday, will be the last to cost £3.99, with the magazine set to raise its price. Tom confirmed that Doctor Who Magazine will be raised from £3.99 to £4.20 as of issue four hundred and eighteen. Between four hundred and fifteen and four hundred and eighteen there are obviously two other issues. They will both be bumper editions, containing eighty four pages of content. Each of them will cost £4.99, and then £4.20 from then on. On the Letter from the Editor page Tom said: "Finally, I have to make an announcement: after an unfrequented five years at the same price, I’m sorry to say that this is the last issue of DWM costing £3.99. The next two issues will be bumper 84-page editions at £4.99 each, after which we’ll move to a new regular price of £4.20." The current issue of Doctor Who Magazine takes an in-depth look at The Waters of Mars and is now available for £3.99 around Britain. It has been confirmed that the preview of the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special will broadcast at some point between 8:00pm and 8:30pm on the Children in Need telethon. It was originally thought that the Christmas special would be titled Nightmares Reign and that the final episode, thought to air on New Years eve or New Years day (more likely New Years day), would be titled The End of Time. However we now believe that the first part will be titled The End of Time, with part two's title unknown. Or will it be The End of Time part one and part two? Only time will tell. This year's Children in Need appeal evening will broadcast live on Friday the 20th of November and will be hosted by Sir Terry Wogan, Tess Daly and Alesha Dixon. As well as the preview, Doctor Who and Torchwood actor John Barrowman will be singing a duet with Myleene Klass. It has been confirmed, as expected, that a brand new episode of Doctor Who Confidential will air after The Waters of Mars makes it's debut on Sunday evening. The episode is titled Is There Life on Mars? and will air on BBC Three after BBC One show The Waters of Mars at 7:00pm. The official Radio Times website describes the episode as a 'behind-the-scenes look at Doctor Who. It is the beginning of the end for David Tennant's Doctor, and Confidential is on a mission to Mars to capture the strange goings on in Bowie base one. The programme goes behind the mask of the monsters as the waters rise, causing the production team all sorts of problems. There are explosions, robots and gallons of water as the Doctor meets one of his heroes and battles against his greatest ever foe - time itself.' Is There Life on Mars? will air on Sunday the 15th of November at 8:00pm on BBC Three and for the first time ever it will also air on BBC HD. It will run until 9:00pm. MSN Player Offers Classic Doctor Who Twice A Week (The Web Planet Is Already Available)

MSN have recently placed a brand new Doctor Who video player, on their official website, which over time will contain various different episodes from the classic series of the show. There is currently only one story available to watch and that is The Web Planet. The Web Planet was originally shown in six parts from February 13th to March 20th 1965. The six part story starred William Hartnell as The First Doctor alongside Jacqueline Hill, William Russell and Maureen O'Brien as Barbara Wright, Ian Chesterton and Vicki. The story was written by Bill Strutton, directed by Richard Martin and produced by Verity Lambert. Each episode is around twenty five minutes in length and can be watched in full for free here. From the 10th of November a new episode from Doctor Who will be added to the player every Tuesday and Thursday. This is a great feature and is great for fans of the classic series. For those of you who haven't seen the classic series of the programme I recommend you watch it as it shows you how the programme came about and how it became what it is today. Remember that a new episode will be added on Tuesday, then another on Thursday and so on and so forth. It is not known how long this will go on for.

According to The Mirror X Factor judge Cheryl Cole has been offered a guest spot in the next series of Doctor Who. For those of you who don't know Cheryl Cole (shame on you), she is a singer (both solo and as part of Girls Aloud) and she is also a judge on the countries top talent search, The X Factor. She has worked hard to this day to make her one of the most famous people in the country and one of the few names on everybody's lips. If the sources are to be believed the BBC want the British sensation in the TARDIS alongside new Doctor Matt Smith. The talk is of a cameo role but if she can act the star could be offered a longer part. A BBC spokesperson refused to confirm this speculation, saying: "The BBC will not be commenting on casting or storyline speculation for the new series of Doctor Who." Meanwhile another source seemed eager to speak saying: "If she can find the time, a part will be written for her." The fifth series of Doctor Who will broadcast on BBC One and BBC HD during Spring. The BBC Press Office Announce Official Dates and Times for the New Doctor Who Animation

The BBC Press Office have today released the broadcast details for the upcoming animated Doctor Who series, Dreamland. They have confirmed the dates and times and have revealed that the series is made up of seven segment, each around six minutes long. It will broadcast across one week and will do so on the official Doctor Who website and via the Red Button service. The adventure sees the TARDIS touch down in the desert in the USA. Stumbling across a mysterious alien artifact in a local diner, the Doctor is led to Area 51, also known as Dreamland, the US' most secret base. He then finds himself on a momentous mission to rescue Rivesh Mantilax from the threat of the ruthless Viperox and the clutches of the American military. The series will premiere daily between the 21st and 27th of November and will be available to Sky and Virgin users via BBC One's Red Button service from 7:00am on November 21st to 4:00am on November 28th. The official viewing figures for Prisoner of the Judoon have recently been revealed by the Broadcasters Audience Research Board (BARB). The two part story is taken from The Sarah Jane Adventures series three and written by head writer Phil Ford. Both the episodes featured Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith with Thomas Knight, Daniel Anthony and Anjli Mohindra as Luke Smith, Clyde Langer and Rani Chandra. The story sees a Judoon prison ship crash and leave Androvax roaming free. But luckily they stopped him, and just in time. Part one of Prisoner of the Judoon was first broadcast on the 15th of October at 4:35pm on BBC One and this broadcast managed to achieve an official viewing figure of 0.73 million. Part two of Prisoner of the Judoon was first broadcast on the 16th of October at 4:35pm on BBC One and this broadcast managed to achieve an official viewing figure of 0.82 million. The two episodes were also shown on BBC HD, but the official figures are not available. The official viewing figures for part one and two of The Mad Woman in the Attic will be revealed soon. Today we are delighted to announce that the official BBC Dreamland blog has posted the first ever clip from the new series. For those of you who don't know what Dreamland is, it's a new animated Doctor Who series. It will feature David Tennant voicing The Tenth Doctor and Georgia Moffett voicing Cassie Rice. Tim Howar voices the second of The Doctor's new companions, Jimmy Stalkingwolf. Obviously two of these stars will be known to you. David Tennant plays The Doctor in the official series whilst Georgia Moffett played The Doctor's daighter Jenny in The Doctor's Daughter from series four. The new clip features The Doctor, Cassie and Jimmy, as well as featuring the latest alien enemy to face the Time Lord. From the trailer we can see that we are in for a treat when the series airs later in the year. You can watch the trailer here on the official Doctor Who website. BBC America have recently confirmed the air date for the upcoming Doctor Who special, The Waters of Mars. The episode, which is written by Phil Ford and Russell T Davies, will air during the middle of December and will prepare The Doctor for his last story, when he regenerates in Britain around Christmas. The Waters of Mars stars David Tennant as The Doctor alongside Lindsay Ducan as Adelaide. An American report about the air date of Th Waters of Mars in America contains a quote which reads: "Mars, 2059. Bowie Base one. Last recorded message: don't drink the water. Don't even touch it. Not one drop." This quote shall be included in the story. The Waters of Mars airs on in America on Saturday the 19th of December at 9:00pm ET/PT on BBC America. If however you live in Britain the episode will air on Sunday the 15th of this month at 7:00pm on BBC One and BBC HD. When the Slitheen's latest scheme is halted, their rivals, the Blathereen, arrive. Declaring peace between the planets, they offer Sarah Jane a gift – one that might change the future of the human race forever. Today will see the official broadcast of The Fall of The House of Gryffen from the upcoming series of K-9 on Disney XD. Although the official K-9 series will not air until next year, Disney XD are broadcasting episode seven of the series early to promote the series and because it is Halloween. The channels official website released a preview clip from the episode online earlier this week here. Disney XD is available to all Sky users who have access to the kids package, so if you don't have this you sadly won't be able to watch the episode or the series next year. The new K-9 series is not in any way connected with Doctor Who or The Sarah Jane Adventures but the series will feature a modern K-9. K-9 is the metal dog who has starred in classic Doctor Who, Doctor Who, K-9 and Company and The Sarah Jane Adventures, with his most recent appearance being on The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith. The episode will air this evening at 6:00pm on Disney XD. Remember that this is not the first episode of the series and that the full series will air early next year. K-9 is voiced by John Leeson, who has voiced the metal dog since his first appearance in The Invisible Enemy, a story which aired in 1977 and starred 4th Doctor Tom Baker.

David confirmed on the show that the special, which is written by Phil Ford and Russell T Davies, will broadcast on Sunday the 15th of November on BBC One and in higher definition on BBC HD at 7:00pm. The Waters of Mars has been described as the start of the end for David Tennant's Tenth Doctor as he prepares to regenerate during the festive season. The Waters of Mars features David Tennant as The Doctor alongside Lindsay Duncan as Adelaide. In his interview David was also asked about his final regeneration scene, but wasn't letting any information out (why should he?). He was also asked about the possibility of a Doctor Who movie, but David said nothing is currently in the making. This week's issue of the magazine takes an in-depth look at the upcoming episode from The Sarah Jane Adventures, with a detailed look at The Doctor's return in The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith. The third series of The Sarah Jane Adventures will continue today with the first part of the much anticipated The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith. The synopsis for today's episode reads: Sarah Jane has met Peter Dalton and wants him to become part of her life; perhaps he could become a father to Luke. But Clyde suspects that Peter is hiding a secret or two, especially when he and Rani find an empty house where Peter says his home should be. A deadly trap is awaiting them all. As the strands of a clever and careful plan come together, can even a Time Lord save Sarah Jane on the day of her arch-enemy's greatest triumph? The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith features Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith alongside The Doctor as played by David Tennant (I know, The Doctor). Thomas Knight plays Luke Smith, Daniel Anthony plays Clyde Langer, Anjli Mohindra plays Rani Chandra and Nigel Havers plays Peter Dalton. The episode will also feature K-9 as voiced by John Leeson and will see the return of the Trickster as played by Paul Marc Davies. The BBC's Trailer To Promote The Sarah Jane Adventures The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith

BBC channels, including BBC One, BBC Three and the CBBC Channel have been broadcasting a brand new trailer for The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith recently, which contains brand new clips from the story. Being the only story from the third series to have had as much publicity because of the guest appearance from David Tennant as The Doctor, fans of both shows know that they are going to be in for a treat with ratings thought to reach higher than ever before. The thirty second trailer features clips of Sarah Jane Smith, The Tenth Doctor, Luke Smith, Clyde Langer, Rani Chandra, Peter Dalton and the Trickster. Sarah Jane is played by Elisabeth Sladen whilst The Tenth Doctor (who is making a guest appearance from Doctor Who) is played by David Tennant. Luke is played by Thomas Knight, Clyde by Daniel Anthony and Rani by Anjli Mohindra. Meanwhile the Trickster is played by Paul Marc Davies. The much anticipated episodes will air tomorrow, Thursday the 29th of October and will conclude with part two on Friday the 30th of October. Doctor Who Christmas Preview To Be Shown For This November's Children in Need Telethon

The BBC have recently revealed that a brand new trailer for the upcoming Christmas Doctor Who specials will be included as part of this year's Children in Need telethon. Nightmares Reign and The End of Time (titles not confirmed) are due to be shown during December, with suggestions that Nightmares Reign will air on Christmas day and The End of Time will air on New Years Eve. This year's BBC Children in Need appeal will be shown on Friday the twentieth of November at 7:00pm on BBC One and will be hosted by Terry Wogan, Tess Daly and Alesha Dixon. In 2005 the telethon included a Doctor Who special in which The Doctor had just regenerated and was a bit ... high and excitable. However the next year, 2006, we did not have anything Doctor Who related as such, but David Tennant did star alongside Catherine Tate in a funny Doctor Who related sketch. Then 2007 gave us the fantastic Time Crash in which The Doctor met his fifth incarnation and then last year we were given a preview of The Next Doctor. This year will see the first ever official trailer for this year's Doctor Who Christmas specials. This also means that The Waters of Mars must be shown before the Christmas preview on the twentieth (14th?).
